Representation of student association

The Information Science Students Association is a non-profitable association of Faculty of Computer and Information Science students from University of Ljubljana. Our goal is to educate our colleagues and us about new best practices in IT, high-tech start-ups and interactions between industry and academia in computer science.

One of more challenging projects is the organisation of now traditional expert field trip to United States for our last year students. In March and April 2008 the 8th generation of students will be visiting some companies and universities forming the top of as well as leading computer science development.

In the west of US we will visit world-renowned universities Berkeley, Stanford, University of California, San Francisco University and others. We will get familiar with the study and we will attend lectures of well-known lecturers. We will visit some leading computer companies such as IBM, Google, Cisco, NetApp, Adobe, Mozilla, as well as their development centres. These companies are all situated in the Silicon Valley and dictate the pace of computer hardware and software development.

Although we are supported by the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, the organisation of this field trip still remains a huge organisation problem and a financial obstacle that members of this association are unable to surmount by ourselves.

With the intention to organise the above mentioned field trip we are actively looking for sponsors. To make the Association and Faculty more recognizable in public, we will appear in media read and watched by our younger colleagues as well as university and secondary school students interested in computer and information science, journeys and field trips.
